Dehradun: Sports Minister Rekha Arya officially announced today that the sports extravaganza will be organized as the Chief Minister’s Champions Trophy. She also announced the dates for the commencement of this state-level sports competition. She said that the Chief Minister’s Championship Trophy will begin on December 23.
Giving information about the competition, the Sports Minister said that it will be organized at four different levels. The first level will be at the Nyaya Panchayat level, the second at the Assembly constituency level, the third at the Parliamentary constituency level, and the fourth level will be the state-level competition. Competitions will be held in 26 different sports disciplines. Traditional and indigenous sports will be given special focus in this competition.
The final and closing ceremony of this competition, which will be held in four different phases, will be on January 28. The winners of the Chief Minister’s Champions Trophy will receive a prize money of Rs. 5 lakh along with the CM Cup. The winners will be decided based on the total points earned from the medals they win. In addition, the runners-up, i.e., players or teams winning at the parliamentary level below the state level, will receive a winning amount of Rs. 2 lakh. Players winning at the assembly level will receive a prize money of Rs. 1 lakh.
Sports Minister Rekha Arya said that if any player breaks a national record in this four-stage competition, they will be given an additional Rs. 1 lakh. The registration process for the Chief Minister’s Championship Trophy started on October 14. So far, more than 1.10 lakh players from across the state have registered. The registration process will continue till December 22.
Opportunities for differently-abled players: Not only this, but differently-abled players have also been given full consideration in this state-level competition. Separate registration arrangements have been made for differently-abled players for various competitions such as athletics, badminton, and swimming. The Sports Minister said that differently-abled players from across the state are also showing interest in this competition and are continuously registering.
