Dehradun: Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan convened a meeting of the State-Level Screening Committee under the CM-National Agricultural Development Scheme at the Secretariat on Wednesday. During the meeting, the Chief Secretary directed officials to hold the State-Level Project Screening Committee meeting in December and the State-Level Screening Committee meeting in March, so that work on projects can begin in April.
The Chief Secretary directed the Agriculture Department to enhance the importance of this diploma course by adopting the curriculum and syllabus of the Agriculture Skill Council of India (ASCI) for the gardener training program.
The Chief Secretary directed districts to evaluate farm machinery banks in their respective areas. He also directed that an assessment be prepared of the impact on productivity after the introduction of farm machinery banks.
The Chief Secretary called for GB Pant Agricultural University to act as a carbon credit agency for the state. He stated that the state can do a lot towards carbon credit, and GB Pant Agricultural University can play an important role in this regard. The Chief Secretary directed the Veer Chandra Singh Garhwali Uttarakhand Horticulture and Forestry University, Bharsar, to work on grafting. He noted that there is a high demand for grafted walnut plants in the state, which have to be supplied from outside. He directed the university to expedite work in this direction.
The Chief Secretary also directed the establishment of outcome indicators for all these projects. He said that deadlines should be set for all stages to ensure timely completion of all projects.
On this occasion, Secretary Sridharbabu Addanki, Dr. Ranveer Singh Chauhan, Dr. S.N. Pandey, Vice Chancellor, VCSG Horticulture and Forestry University, Bharsar, Dr. Parvinder Kaushal, Additional Secretary Anand Srivastava, Navneet Pandey, and senior officials from the relevant departments were present.
