Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan chaired a review of preparations for the Nanda Devi Raj Jat Yatra to be held in 2026

Dehradun: Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan chaired a review of preparations for the Nanda Devi Raj Jat Yatra to be held in 2026 at the Secretariat on Thursday. The Chief Secretary directed the Chamoli District Magistrate to coordinate with all relevant departments and stakeholders and expedite the preparation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the smooth conduct of the entire Yatra.

The Chief Secretary stated that the historicity, uniqueness, and originality of the Yatra should not be compromised in any way. He also called for a documentary to be prepared. He stated that due to excessive rainfall this year, reconnaissance of many routes and stops should be conducted to assess the condition of the routes and stops. He urged immediate action to repair the routes and stops. He also ensured that necessary arrangements for tents and other arrangements are made.

The Chief Secretary directed that all permanent and temporary works to be prioritized for the Nanda Devi Raj Jat Yatra be prioritized. He directed that major essential works be prioritized and commenced immediately. He directed that the Health Department ensure the availability of health officials, medicines, portable oxygen, and health equipment at every pilgrimage stop and along the entire pilgrimage route.

The Chief Secretary directed that comprehensive SOPs covering route electrification, health facilities, crowd management, food arrangements, solid waste management, and sanitation management be issued soon. He also directed the concerned officials to prepare a waste management plan, septic management, and sanitation management plan for the entire pilgrimage to ensure convenience for participants and prevent any environmental damage.

APCCF Kapil Lal, Secretary Vinod Kumar Suman, Dhiraj Singh Garbyal, C. Ravi Shankar, Additional Secretary Vineet Kumar, and other senior officials were present at the meeting.
