Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan reviews Jamrani and Song Dam projects under construction by the Irrigation Department

Dehradun: Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan reviewed the Jamrani and Song dam projects, currently under construction by the Irrigation Department, at the Secretariat on Wednesday. The Chief Secretary discussed both important projects in detail and issued directives. He emphasized that both projects must be completed on time.

The Chief Secretary discussed the Jamrani Dam Multipurpose Project and the Song Dam Drinking Water Project in detail and instructed the Irrigation Department to complete the projects within the stipulated timeframe. He said that all tenders and other necessary procedures should be completed on time. He directed that a flowchart of the entire project be prepared and each stage be completed within the scheduled time. The Chief Secretary stressed the need to increase the availability of necessary materials to expedite the construction work. He emphasized that while focusing on the quality of work, necessary first-party, second-party, and third-party quality control and evaluation should also be conducted regularly.

The Chief Secretary said that the rehabilitation work for those affected by the projects should be completed in a timely and efficient manner. He instructed that continuous dialogue be maintained with the affected people to ensure that the work of compensation, rehabilitation, and allocation is carried out with mutual coordination and trust.

On this occasion, Irrigation Secretary Yugal Kishore Pant informed that the total cost of the Jamrani Dam Multipurpose Project is ₹3678.23 crore. This project will be completed by June 2029. He said that the Song Dam project is a 130.60-meter-high, 150 MLD gravity-based drinking water project, costing ₹2524.42 crore. Its construction will be completed by November 2029.  Other senior officers, including the Head of the Irrigation Department, Subhash Chandra, were also present on this occasion.
