Chief Secretary held a meeting regarding Haridwar Corridor, Rishikesh Master Plan and Sharda Corridor

Dehradun: Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan held a meeting regarding Haridwar Corridor, Rishikesh Master Plan and Sharda Corridor in the Secretariat on Wednesday. During the meeting, Uttarakhand Investment and Infrastructure Development Board (UIIDB) gave a detailed presentation on the above subjects.

The Chief Secretary said that priority should be set for all the projects under the Haridwar Corridor. He said that the projects which need to be implemented soon, should be taken on priority and work should be started.

The Chief Secretary said that Haridwar and its religious importance are linked to the faith of people living not only in India but also abroad. In the development works of Haridwar Corridor, special care should be taken that there is no tampering with the areas related to faith and their original form. He also directed to constantly communicate with the stakeholders associated with the schemes. He said that a comprehensive plan including budget, implementing agency, its maintenance should be presented soon on all the projects under Haridwar Corridor. He directed UIDB to include the concerned departments in the plan, considering the nature of each project.

The Chief Secretary, while discussing the projects of Haridwar Corridor, directed to increase the area of ​​Brahmakund and Mahila Ghat. He talked about maintaining the historical importance and theme of Sati Kund in the redevelopment work of Sati Kund. He said that while constructing multi-level parking in Haridwar, special care should be taken that there is no obstruction in river darshan. He said that further action should be started soon on the works whose DPR has been prepared.

The Chief Secretary also directed to set priority for the works of Sharda River Riverfront Development. He said that the works should be completed by the concerned department according to the nature of the work. He also talked about including eco tourism activities in forest land. He also directed UIDB to include the projects of District Magistrate Champawat’s priority in Sharda Corridor. He said that along with the development of tourism circuit, provisions for helipad and heliport should be made in the plan keeping in mind the connectivity.

During the discussion on Rishikesh Master Plan, the Chief Secretary directed the officials to prepare the mobility plan of Rishikesh and the proposed works around the old railway station in a holistic manner. He said that a hydrology survey should be conducted for the revival of Chandrabhaga river.

The Chief Secretary, while prioritizing all the projects, directed to start the absolutely necessary works immediately. He said that considering the importance of Haridwar Corridor, Sharda Riverfront Development and Rishikesh Master Plan works, action should be started as soon as possible.

On this occasion, Principal Secretary R. Meenakshi Sundaram, Secretary Nitesh Kumar Jha, Sachin Kurve, Dr. Pankaj Kumar Pandey, Dr. V. Shanmugam and Chief Forest Conservator PK Patro along with senior officials of other related departments were present.
