Dehradun: Chief Secretary Anand Vardhan held a meeting with the concerned departments at the Secretariat on Friday regarding carbon credits. The Chief Secretary inquired about the work being done by the concerned departments in the direction of carbon credits.
The Chief Secretary said that carbon credits can become an important source of income for Uttarakhand. For this, departments will have to explore possibilities in their respective areas of work. They will also have to make preparations for how carbon credits can be obtained. He said that the Environment Department will act as the nodal department for carbon credits in the state. He said that initially, work should begin on “low-hanging fruit” projects where success can be easily achieved. The Chief Secretary said that one thousand electric buses are being introduced in Uttarakhand.
