Chief Secretary reviewed all the national highways of the state, CS took detailed information about the status and progress of NH PWD and NHAI roads

Dehradun: Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan reviewed all the national highways within the state in his auditorium at the Secretariat on Thursday. During the meeting, the Chief Secretary took detailed information about the status and progress of NH PWD and NHAI roads under the state.

The Chief Secretary took information about the bottle neck of NH PWD roads and directed to prepare a plan soon to repair them. He also talked about continuously following up with the concerned departments at the central and state level for forest and wildlife recommendations. Said that pending cases of NH PWD should be resolved by organizing regular meetings with the concerned District Magistrates and Forest.

The Chief Secretary directed to initiate action to extend the Rishikesh bypass from Rishikesh to Shivpuri. He said that continuous efforts should be made to get approvals from the Centre. He has directed to set a timeline for completion of Kaliyasoud realignment and Joshimath bypass realignment work. He said that continuous high level monitoring should be done to complete the works within the stipulated time frame. He said that those works which can be started parallelly to complete the works on time should be started.

The Chief Secretary also reviewed the progress of roads being constructed under NHAI. He took detailed information about the projects going on at various levels including NHAI’s Ballupur Ponvata Sahib Package 1 and 2, Jhajra-Asharodi 4 lane, Haridwar bypass. He said that the works should be completed within the stipulated time frame.

Secretary Dr. Pankaj Kumar Pandey said that the total length of national highways under the state is 3589.99 km, of which NH PWD has 2028.19 km, BRO has 986.8 km, NHIDCL has 130 km and NHAI has 445 km. He said that a total of 53 works are to be done on the Chardham Yatra route, out of which 47 have been approved. 42 works have been awarded, out of which 30 works have been completed. Work is in progress on 12 works. 5 works are yet to be awarded and 6 works are yet to be approved. On this occasion, Additional Secretary Vineet Kumar and Regional Officer NHAI Vishal Gupta and PD NHAI Pankaj were also present.
