Chief Secretary reviewed the situation of heavy rainfall in various districts of the state by visiting the State Disaster Control Room.

Dehradun: Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan reviewed the situation of heavy rainfall in various districts from the State Emergency Operation Center on Friday. During this, he took detailed information about the rainfall in the districts and obtained information about the area-wise situation from the concerned District Magistrates.

Necessary arrangements should be made in sensitive areas in advance: Chief Secretary

The Chief Secretary directed the officials to work with full seriousness and caution on the warnings and forecasts issued by the Meteorological Department in the coming days. He said that in view of the possibility of heavy rainfall and landslides, necessary arrangements should be ensured in advance in sensitive areas, so that there is no delay in relief and rescue operations in any emergency situation. He directed the District Magistrates to provide immediate compensation to the affected families as per the prescribed standards and all necessary resources should be made available immediately in the disaster affected areas.

Basic services should be restored immediately

The Chief Secretary said that in case of disruption of basic services like road, drinking water and electricity supply, these should be restored immediately. He directed to coordinate between all the departments and ensure timely delivery of relief material to the affected areas. He directed the state and district level disaster control rooms to remain on alert mode round the clock.

The Chief Secretary has also emphasized on providing timely information to the general public. In this context, he directed the officers to run a campaign on a wide scale to promote the ‘Sachet App’, so that more and more people can get updated information related to the weather in time.

On this occasion, Additional Chief Executive Officer Implementation DIG Rajkumar Negi, Joint Chief Executive Officer Md. Obaidullah Ansari and other senior officers were present.
