Chief Secretary visits Skill Hub Sahaspur under the Skill Development and Employment Department

Dehradun: Chief Secretary Anand Vardhan visited the Skill Hub Sahaspur under the Skill Development and Employment Department in Dehradun district on Wednesday. On this occasion, the Chief Secretary took detailed information about the courses being run at the Center of Excellence and interacted with the students undergoing training.

The Chief Secretary directed that students from all industrial training institutes in the state should be given a tour of the Center of Excellence. The Chief Secretary expressed displeasure at the underutilization of the training capacity. He directed that the Center of Excellence should be utilized to its full capacity within a month.

The Chief Secretary also suggested that the courses conducted at the Center of Excellence should be included in the curriculum of industrial training institutes. He directed that along with foreign language training programs, information about the living and working culture of the respective countries should also be provided to the trainees.

On this occasion, the Chief Secretary interacted with the students undergoing training at the Center of Excellence, discussed their experiences and future plans, and wished them a bright future.

Director of Skill Development and Employment, Sanjay Kumar, informed that the Skill Hub Sahaspur has been established by the Skill Development and Employment Department in Dehradun district of Uttarakhand state. At Skill Hub Sahaspur, high-level technical training is provided to the youth of the state with the objective of connecting ITI pass-out trainees with employment in the country, and necessary foreign language training is provided to connect them with overseas employment opportunities through various programs. The Skill Hub Sahaspur comprises a Center of Excellence and an Overseas Employment Cell. Currently, the Overseas Employment Cell is primarily working to provide employment opportunities to the youth of the state in Japan and Germany in the fields of nursing, caregiving, and hospitality. The domain training for these youth is being provided by the state’s nursing colleges and hotel management institutes, and the cell is providing residential foreign language training at Skill Hub Sahaspur. On this occasion, District Magistrate Dehradun Savin Bansal, Director of Skill Development and Employment Sanjay Kumar, Joint Director Anil Singh, and other senior officers were present.
