Children will be made to study Shrimad Bhagwat Geeta in schools, schools will be inspected before monsoon

Dehradun: Children will be made to study Shrimad Bhagwat Geeta in the curriculum in the schools of Uttarakhand. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami held a review meeting of the Education Department on Tuesday. During the meeting, the CM instructed the officials to make the children study Shrimad Bhagwat Geeta in the curriculum in the schools. Along with this, work should be done on a clear plan for the next 10 years for innovation in the field of education. A silver festival calendar of all the activities in the field of education should be made by the Education Department by December 2026. Also, before the start of the rainy season, all the schools in the state should be inspected and the condition of the school roads and bridges as well as other basic facilities should be seen.

CM Dhami said that a proposal should be made by studying the best practices of other states for the facility of residential hostels in cluster schools. Better facilities should be available to the children in the residential hostels. In the first phase, one residential hostel should be built in each district. Instructions were also given to make a proposal soon for the transport system of students within 15 km radius of 559 cluster schools.

The CM instructed the officials that every year children should get textbooks on time. He said that there should be complete transparency in the transfer process in the education department. For this, a proposal should be made after studying all aspects in depth. All aspects should be taken care of in district, division and state level cadre. NCC and NSS should be promoted in schools. Schools which do not have these facilities right now. Schools should be selected in a phased manner. The Chief Minister said that to further improve the education system in the state, industrial establishments of the state should also be requested for cooperation under CSR fund.

Chief Minister Dhami said that the repair work in dilapidated schools should be expedited. Special attention should be paid to the safety of children in schools. Strict action will be taken against those who are negligent in any matter related to the safety of children. A waiting list should also be made to ensure full availability of students in Rajiv Gandhi Navodaya Vidyalayas as per their capacity. He said that there will be no shortage of resources required for qualitative improvement in education. The Chief Minister said that more work should be done towards effective implementation of National Education Policy 2020 in the state. Moral education, environmental education, cultural heritage of the state, mention of great men, skill development according to regional needs, health education, folk tales, folk literature, music and art should be included in the curriculum.
