Dehradun: Cloud burst has caused devastation in Chamoli district of Uttarakhand. There is news of cloud burst in Toonri Gadera of Tharali tehsil. Due to cloud burst late night, a lot of debris has come in Tharali market, Kotdeep, Tehsil Tharali premises. Apart from this, there has been heavy damage in many areas including Chepdon and Sagwara. NDRF and ITBP from Gauchar, SSB from Gwaldam have left for relief and rescue operations.
Due to cloud burst, debris has come in houses, shops have also been damaged. Some vehicles are also buried in the debris in the tehsil premises. Roads have been damaged. Two people including a young girl are missing. NDRF team has left for the spot. Local administration and disaster management teams are engaged in rescue work.
A rainy stream suddenly overflowed in Tharali’s Tehsil premises Radibag. SDM’s residence got buried under the debris. SDM and others left the residence at night and went to a safe place. Vehicles are reported to be buried under the debris in Radibag.
According to the information, due to cloudburst in Turaali Tehsil’s Toonri Gadera, a lot of debris came in Tharali Tehsil premises, debris has also come in houses, some vehicles in Tehsil premises are also buried under the debris. There has been heavy damage in Chepads of Tharali. More than three shops are reported to have been washed away here.
Many houses have been damaged due to the debris. Tharali market is also filled with debris. Many vehicles have reached people’s homes from the road by getting washed away with the debris. Tharali-Sagwara road is also closed. Tharali- Gwaldam road is closed in Minggadera.
One person is reported to be buried under the debris in Sagwara village. While in the same village, information is being received about a 20-year-old girl being buried under the debris. After receiving the information, the SDRF team has left for the spot from Gauchar.
At the same time, holiday has been declared in all the schools of the three development blocks Tharali, Dewal and Narayanbagh today in view of heavy rains.
