CM Dhami announced compensation of Rs 5 lakh for the affected people of Tharali disaster in Chamoli, rehabilitation action intensified

Dehradun: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami returned to Uttarakhand from his Delhi tour on Saturday evening. As soon as he reached, CM Dhami first reached the State Disaster Control Room in Dehradun and took an update on the Tharali disaster while reviewing the relief and rescue work in the disasters in the state. CM Dhami also announced compensation of Rs 5 lakh for the damaged houses in other disasters of the state including Tharali.

CM Dhami, while reviewing the Tharali (Chamoli) disaster relief work at the Disaster Operations Center in Dehradun on Saturday night, directed the District Magistrate to immediately release the assistance amount of Rs 5 lakh to the affected people for the completely damaged houses. Along with this, he has also directed to immediately provide assistance of Rs 5 lakh to the families of the deceased. The Chief Minister has directed that arrangements for the drainage of water from Syana Chatti should be made as soon as possible.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami made it clear to the officials that the best arrangements should be made for the people who have become homeless in Tharali immediately and along with this the work of rehabilitation should also be started rapidly. The affected should get relief material promptly and all the necessary items should be given together. Along with this, Chief Minister Dhami has instructed the District Magistrate and the concerned officials that all the basic needs including electricity, water, road network should be restored in the Tharali disaster affected area as soon as possible. Special attention should be paid to the quality of all types of relief material including ration to be distributed to the affected.

Praising the District Magistrate Chamoli for reaching the spot immediately during the Tharali disaster, promptly providing relief to the affected and excellent management, Chief Minister Dhami said that similarly relief and rescue work should be ensured promptly with effective coordination in other disaster affected areas. The Chief Minister also praised the SDRF and NDRF for effective relief and rescue operations in the Tharali disaster. Along with this, the Chief Minister has instructed all the District Magistrates to be fully prepared in view of the Orange Alert in the state for the next two days and to keep disaster management material equipment etc. at sensitive places.

The Chief Minister has instructed to prepare a report by forming a committee of experts and scientists from various reputed agencies to study the pattern of recent disasters in Dharali, Saji (Pauri) and Dharali.
