CM Dhami announces increase in pension for statehood activists and their dependents

ehradun: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami paid tribute to the martyrs of the Uttarakhand statehood movement by laying a wreath at the Martyrs’ Sthal (court complex) in Dehradun on Saturday. In the same vein, on the occasion of the silver jubilee of the establishment of Uttarakhand, he honored the statehood activists and the families of the martyred statehood activists at the Statehood Movement Honor Ceremony held at the Police Lines. A helicopter showered flowers on the statehood activists at the court complex, the Martyrs’ Sthal, and the Police Lines, Dehradun.

The Chief Minister stated that the creation of Uttarakhand was not merely a political decision, but the result of the sacrifice, struggle, and perseverance of millions of people from Devbhoomi. He said that tragic incidents like Khatima, Mussoorie, and Rampur Tiraha during the Uttarakhand movement are immortal chapters in our history.

Paying homage to all the known and unknown martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the creation of the state, he stated that the state government has and will continue to give top priority to the honoring of the agitators. Referring to the pension and other benefits provided to the state agitators, he said that this is not just assistance, but a symbol of our gratitude.

Chief Minister’s Announcement

  1. Key infrastructure facilities in the areas of martyred state agitators will be named after them.
  2. The pension of agitators who were jailed for seven days or injured during the Uttarakhand state movement will be increased from Rs. 6,000 per month to Rs. 7,000 per month.
  3. The pension of state agitators other than those jailed or injured during the Uttarakhand state movement will be increased from Rs. 4,500 per month to Rs. 5,500 per month.
  4. The pension of state agitators who became disabled and bedridden during the Uttarakhand state movement will be increased from Rs. 20,000 per month to Rs. 30,000 per month, and medical attendants will also be provided for their care.
  5. The pension of dependents of state agitators who sacrificed their lives during the Uttarakhand state movement will be increased from Rs. 3,000 per month to Rs. 5,500 per month.
  6. A six-month extension will be granted for the disposal of pending applications received in the District Magistrate’s office until 2021 for the identification of Uttarakhand state agitators.
  7. All martyr memorials will be beautified.
