Champawat: The rafting demo competition of the 38th National Games going on in Uttarakhand concluded on Monday. Karnataka was the overall champion in the three-day rafting demo. Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami was the chief guest at the closing ceremony. The CM honored the winning contestants by giving prizes.

Rafting demo competition concluded in Champawat

Under the Uttarakhand 38th National Games, the finals of the RX event men, women and mixed were held on the third day of demo rafting on February 10. SSCB got the first place in the Rx Man Rafting Event held from Kakar Ghat to Boom Mandir. Karnataka team stood first in RX Mixed. Karnataka team also stood first in the RX Women Rafting Event. The special thing was that for the first time in the country, the national rafting competition was organized in flood light. Karnataka was the overall champion

On the conclusion of the rafting demo competition, the finals of men, women and mixed were held from Kakar Ghat to Boom Mandir in the RX rafting event on the third day. SSCB got first place in Rx Man Rafting Demo, Andhra Pradesh got second place and Jammu and Kashmir got third place. At the same time, Karnataka got first place in RX Mixed event, Maharashtra got second place and Himachal Pradesh got third place.

Women of Uttarakhand won silver medal on the third day as well

Karnataka got first place in RX Women, Uttarakhand got second place and Haryana got third place. In the three-day rafting demo competition under Uttarakhand 38th National Games, the team of Karnataka was the overall champion.

Rafting competition held under flood light for the first time

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, who arrived on the closing occasion as the chief guest, honored the winning players. He talked about developing Tanakpur as a hub of rafting on the lines of Rishikesh, so that this adventure sport will also become a means of employment for the local people. The CM said that for the first time, by organizing a rafting demo in flood light at night, we have tried to get it registered in the Guinness World Record. CM Dhami talked about efforts to organize an international rafting competition in Tanakpur.

CM honored the winning players

The Chief Minister said that the players of our state have also made a better place for themselves by winning medals in the 38th National Games. Devbhoomi will now make its mark as a sports land after the National Sports event. Chief Minister Dhami said that it is a matter of great pride and good fortune that the National Games are being organized in our Devbhoomi Uttarakhand. Also, it is a matter of even more pride that the rafting (demo sports) competition in the National Games is being held in Champawat. He said that through these games, Champawat will develop in the field of tourism. The Chief Minister honored the winning teams by wearing medals and encouraged them. On this occasion, Asian Fencing Association General Secretary Rajiv Mehta, State Olympic Association General Secretary DK Singh, President Indian Kayaking and Canoeing Prashant Kushwaha, Competition Director Bilquis Mir, Chief Finish Judge Jayankata Singh, Dilip, Chairperson Rafting Padam Guleria were present in the jury.

Paid tribute to those killed in vehicle accident

The closing ceremony of the rafting demo competition was held with simplicity due to the death of two youths of the program area (village Uchouligoth) in a vehicle accident. All cultural programs were canceled on this occasion. The people present in the program including the CM observed 2 minutes of silence for the peace of the soul of the deceased. Chief Minister Dhami expressed his condolences to both the persons who died in the vehicle accident and expressed grief.
