CM Dhami explained the reason for the name ‘Pushkar’, becoming emotional in Ajmer

Dehradun: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Sunday performed ceremonial prayers at the world-famous Shri Brahma Ji Temple located on the sacred land of Tirtharaj Pushkar in Ajmer, Rajasthan. Chief Minister Dhami prayed to Prajapita Brahma Ji for happiness, prosperity, and a happy life for all the people of Uttarakhand, including the state. During this, he also shared the reason for his name being ‘Pushkar’.

CM Dhami inaugurated the second floor of the All India Uttarakhand Dharamshala Ashram, Tirtharaj Pushkar, in Ajmer. On this occasion, he expressed his great privilege and happiness to be present on this sacred land of Tirtharaj Pushkar.

He said that religious texts describe Pushkar, Kurukshetra, Haridwar, Gaya, and Prayag as Panchtirtha. Among these, Pushkar, the place of Brahma’s sacrifice, is considered the guru of all pilgrimages. Pushkar is not just a pilgrimage site but an eternal light of Sanatan culture, which has always inspired humanity to follow the path of righteousness, penance, sacrifice, and virtue.

CM Dhami, becoming emotional, explained that perhaps it was this spiritual glory and aura that inspired his parents to name him ‘Pushkar’. He thanked the organizing committee and the expatriate Uttarakhandi people, saying that he felt like he was not in Rajasthan but among his family members in the land of the gods. He expressed confidence that this Dharamshala would become an important refuge for pilgrims in the future and further strengthen the cultural, spiritual, and social ties between Uttarakhand and Rajasthan.
