CM Dhami flagged off the state’s first Lab on Wheels-Mobile Science Lab

Dehradun: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has given the gift of four mobile science labs through Lab on Wheels to the students studying in government schools of the state. On Saturday, while observing the science models of the first mobile science lab at the camp office located at the Chief Minister’s residence, he flagged off all the four mobile science labs. During this, the Chief Minister also established dialogue with the students of PM Government Inter College Bhimawala, who were displaying science models.

The Chief Minister said that the availability of mobile science labs in remote areas of the state would be helpful in connecting the students with the modernity of science. He said that information about its science-based subjects would be available to the students through mobile vans, he described this scheme as in the wider interest of the students.

UCOST Director General Prof. Durgesh Pant said that through Lab on Wheels, work is to be done to popularize science in the rural/remote areas of the state and promote science communication activities. Under this project, in collaboration with Uttarakhand State Council of Science and Technology (UCOST) and Agastya International, students of classes VI to X will be provided an opportunity to learn and understand the syllabus of subjects like Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics etc. better through laboratory, practical demonstrations/models, science activities and demonstrations. Prof. Pant said that the project is being conducted in the state in two phases, in the first phase, Lab on Wheels is being conducted in 04 districts of the state namely Champawat, Almora, Dehradun and Pauri, after which the target has been set to conduct the project in all the districts of the state in the second phase.
On this occasion, Secretary of Science and Technology Nitesh Jha, Director General of School Education Banshidhar Tiwari also observed various science based models displayed in Lab on Wheels and interacted with the students. During this, Dr. Piyush Joshi, Vikas Nautiyal, Prahlad Adhikari and Shiv Kumar from the associate organization Agastya International, Vikas Tiwari, Principal of Bhimawala Inter College Dr. S.K. Aggarwal etc. were present.
