CM Dhami flags off the Adi Kailash Parikrama Run (Ultra Marathon) promo run, proposed on November 2, 2025

Dehradun: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Sunday flagged off the Adi Kailash Parikrama Run (Ultra Marathon) promo run, proposed on November 2, 2025, from the Chief Minister’s residence and unveiled the logo. The Adi Kailash Marathon will be held from Gunji village on November 2, 2025, to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the state’s establishment. This event is being organized with the aim of promoting adventure and winter tourism, encouraging youth to lead healthy lives, and fulfilling Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami’s pledge for a drug-free Uttarakhand. This ultra marathon will take place at an altitude of 10,300 to 15,000 feet.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that the Adi Kailash Marathon will be held in the Vyas Valley on November 2, 2025, to commemorate the silver jubilee year of the establishment of the state of Uttarakhand. This initiative will prove to be a milestone in the socio-economic development of border areas, addressing the problem of migration, providing employment to local youth, and strengthening tourism infrastructure. He stated that this marathon will also be very effective in promoting the Vibrant Village Scheme, created by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah for the development of border areas.

The Chief Minister stated that this marathon is not only a sporting event, but also a powerful means of providing respect, local identity, and creating sustainable employment opportunities in the homestay and tourism sectors for the border residents. The event will give the state’s natural and cultural heritage a new identity at the national and international level.

Children, youth, and people of all age groups from across the state participated in the Adi Kailash Parikrama Run Marathon held on Sunday. The marathon concluded at the Uttarakhand Tourism Development Council office.

Tourism Secretary Dhiraj Garbyal stated that the top three winners of this 10-kilometer race will be eligible to participate in the “Adi Kailash Marathon” to be held in Gunji, Pithoragarh on November 2, 2025. The event will have five categories: 60 km (ultra run), 42 km (full marathon), 21 km (half marathon), 10 km run, and 5 km run, and athletes from across the country will participate.

The Tourism Secretary stated that following the successful conduct of this marathon, the next marathon is proposed to be held in the Mana-Niti region in June 2026. A total prize money of ₹50 lakh has been set for the winners in the marathons to be held in the Vyas and Niti Valleys.

Cabinet Minister Ganesh Joshi, IG ITBP Sanjay Gunjyal, Additional Secretary Tourism Abhishek Ruhela, Mrs. Pooja Garbyal, and participants were present on the occasion.
