Dehradun: Infrastructure, qualified faculty, modern labs and other basic facilities should be provided to develop the engineering institutes of the state at the national level. To connect the youth with employment, they should be made skilled in various trades as per the demand of the industry. Chief Minister Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami gave these instructions to the officials during a meeting held at the Secretariat on Tuesday regarding the development of engineering institutes of the state at the national level. The Chief Minister said that along with the arrangement of basic facilities, hostels and boundary walls in all the engineering colleges of the state, better road connectivity should also be ensured.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister gave strict instructions that faculty should be deployed in all engineering colleges as per the prescribed standards. The Chief Minister expressed displeasure over the lack of recruitments as per the system made for the recruitment process in engineering colleges. Expressing displeasure over the lack of student registration in engineering institutes, he said that along with increasing student registration, attention should be paid to good curriculum in all trades as well as the latest technology. He said that good arrangements should be ensured for placement of children from campus itself.
The Chief Minister expressed displeasure over non-operation of classes in the building constructed at Madhdura in Pithoragarh for operation of Nanhi Pari Seemant Engineering Institute. He said that a thorough investigation should be conducted as to who had selected the place for the engineering institute, whether this place was suitable or not. If it was not suitable, then why was the engineering institute built at this place. Why are classes not being conducted in this building even after spending about 15 crores on the building. It is worth mentioning that right now the engineering college is being operated in the building of GIC. The Chief Minister has directed to constitute a new SIT on the complaints of irregularities in appointments, promotions and other matters in GB Pant Engineering College Ghuddauri and conduct a detailed investigation keeping in view all aspects.
