Ramnagar. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami arrived in Ramnagar on Thursday. He attended the Jan Van Mahotsav, organized by the Forest Department of Uttarakhand on the silver jubilee of the state’s establishment, as the chief guest. Forest Minister Subodh Uniyal was also present.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami stated that a balance must be maintained between material development and the environment. The government has worked to connect people with livelihoods. The number of wildlife species such as tigers, snow leopards, leopards, and elephants has increased in the state. Our generations have been conserving them for centuries. Our state has a commitment to the environment. Environmental protection is ingrained in our culture.
The government is working on 62 new destinations in the state to connect people with employment. The government is also planning to introduce a wood-based industry policy. Forest Minister Subodh Uniyal also addressed the event. On Thursday, the Chief Minister was speaking at the Kumaon-level Jan Van Mahotsav (People’s Forest Festival) organized by the Forest Department in the city forest to mark the silver jubilee of the State’s foundation day. The Chief Minister inspected more than 15 stalls set up by the Forest Department and women’s groups.
In addition to food products and handmade items prepared by women’s groups, the Forest Department also set up stalls displaying wildlife rescue equipment, wildlife treatment machines, plantation seeds, exhibitions showcasing wildlife presence, and information about departmental schemes. A painting competition related to wildlife and environmental conservation was also organized for school children. The children drew pictures of wildlife on paper. Forest officers from the forest divisions of the Corbett Tiger Reserve and the Kumaon Division were present. MLA Diwan Singh Bisht, Chief Conservator of Forests Samir Sinha, Corbett Director Saket Badola, DFO Prakash Chandra Arya, Forest Secretary Ramesh Kumar Sudhanshu, Chief Wildlife Warden RK Mishra, and Chief Conservator of Forests Tejashwani Patil were present. It should be noted that the Jan Van Mahotsav is being held in the city forest in Ramnagar. This Kumaon-level festival will feature programs related to wildlife conservation. School children will also organize wildlife exhibitions and painting competitions. CM Dhami will also participate in the Scout Guide Rover Ranger program held at the Government College. From there, he will return to Dehradun.
