CM Dhami inaugurated the Tanakpur Cooperative Fair, presented Champawat with 8 schemes worth ₹88.11 crore

Tanakpur: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami arrived in Tanakpur on Thursday to formally inaugurate the “Cooperative Fair,” organized by the Uttarakhand Cooperative Department to commemorate the International Cooperative Year 2025.

The Chief Minister inaugurated the fair by cutting the ribbon at Gandhi Maidan, Tanakpur, and inspected various departmental stalls. On this occasion, he stated that cooperation is not just an economic system, but a symbol of mutual cooperation, social harmony, and collective development. He said, “The cooperative movement is the backbone of the state’s economic progress, enabling farmers, youth, and women to become self-reliant.”

The Chief Minister stated that such events are highly commendable initiatives to spread the spirit of cooperation from rural life to urban society.

On this occasion, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami distributed cheques of ₹1 lakh each to four farmers as an incentive to farmers in rural areas by the Cooperative Department. This incentive amount for dairy cattle rearing was given to four beneficiaries including Pan Singh, Kishan Singh, Sandeep Singh. The Chief Minister called upon them to come forward and set an example for other farmers.

During the program, Chief Minister Dhami gifted a total of 08 development schemes worth ₹8810.90 lakh (approximately ₹88.11 crore) to Champawat district – which included the inauguration of 03 schemes and the foundation stone laying of 05 schemes.

Inaugurations—Total 03 projects, cost ₹2478.56 lakh

  1. Arch Motor Bridge on the Nayakgoth-Hanumangarhi Motor Road (₹1377.14 lakh)

The 125-meter span arch motor bridge constructed on the Hanumangarhi Khetkheda Thwalkheda Motor Road from village Nayakgoth in Champawat Assembly constituency was inaugurated, providing a new boost to local connectivity.

  1. Improvement of internal connecting roads in Champawat with hot mix (₹992.12 lakh)

The Public Works Department, a provincial division, completed the strengthening of internal roads in Champawat.

  1. Reconstruction of the Collectorate Building in the Kumaoni Style (₹109.30 lakh)

The Collectorate Building was reconstructed in the traditional architectural style and equipped with modern facilities by the Rural Works Department.

Foundation Stone Laying – Total 05 Schemes, Cost ₹6332.34 Lakh

  1. Construction of Tehsil Office Champawat Building (₹1385.68 Lakh)

This building, proposed by the Uttarakhand Drinking Water Resources Development and Construction Corporation, Lohaghat, will strengthen administrative efficiency.

  1. Inauguration of three watershed development projects under the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana (PMKSY)

Chief Minister Dhami said, “These projects will give a new direction to the holistic and balanced development of Champawat. They will strengthen rural livelihoods, increase employment opportunities in the region, and significantly improve the standard of living.”

On this occasion, Minister of State rank Shyam Narayan Pandey, District Panchayat Chairman Anand Singh Adhikari, Municipal Council Chairman Vipin Kumar, Block Chief Anchala Bohra, BJP District President Govind Samant, BJP State General Secretary Nirmal Mahara, District General Secretary Mukesh Kalkhudiya, Prakash Tiwari, Deepak Rajwar, Puran Mahara, Himesh Kalkhudiya, Shivraj Kathayat, Gunjan Sukheja, Satish Pandey, Pushpa Vishwakarma, Kedar Brijwal, Vikas Shah along with District Magistrate Manish Kumar, Superintendent of Police Ajay Ganpati, Chief Development Officer Dr. G.S. Khati, Mangala Tripathi Joint Director Cooperative Department along with public representatives and a large number of local citizens were present.
