Also, the beneficiaries should also feel that the government has worked to make their lives easier and better.
CM Dhami said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, continuous efforts are being made to empower the Divyangjans and senior citizens in the country. The Prime Minister was the first to adopt the word Divyang instead of Viklang and did the important work of instilling self-respect in the Divyangjans.
Under the leadership of the Prime Minister, concrete efforts are being made for the welfare of the disabled through many schemes like Disabled Empowerment Act 2016, Sugamya Bharat Abhiyan, ADIP Scheme, Deendayal Divyangjan Rehabilitation Scheme, Divyangjan Swalamban Scheme and Divyangjan Scholarship and Pension Scheme.

Today, under this scheme, the pension amount is being transferred directly to the bank accounts of about 6 lakh elderly people of the state through DBT. Along with this, the government is also strengthening the system of old age homes in all the districts of the state.
The CM said that at present, government old age homes are operating in Bageshwar, Chamoli and Uttarkashi, while new buildings are under construction in Dehradun, Almora and Champawat. Apart from this, old age homes run by non-governmental organizations are also functioning in many areas including Haridwar, Udham Singh Nagar and Nainital.
The Chief Minister said that in view of the challenges in relationships with changing times, the government has implemented the Parents and Senior Citizens Maintenance Act in the state to protect the rights of senior citizens.
