Dehradun: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami today launched the Gross Environmental Product (GEP). After this, the CM held a press conference and said that Uttarakhand is the first state in the world where GEP has been launched.
He said that today is a historic day for all of us. Our ancestors have left good air, water sources. The entire atmosphere is covered with pure air. The way we are moving forward in development, under that how we are also preserving the environment, this is its index.
We have the challenge of maintaining it in the coming years as well. We used to demand green bonus, but today the figures of the last three years have come. That will give us a chance to do better. This index will be effective for us in NITI Aayog, Government of India. Thousands of our streams have dried up. We are working on their revival. We have got information about the carrying capacity of many cities.
We will talk about issues related to the state in NITI Aayog and Chief Minister’s Conclave. We may have a population of 1.25 crore, but more than eight crore people come here for tourism and pilgrimage. Therefore, the formula for the development model for states like us should be different. The budget should also be different. There should not be only one scheme for the whole country. Some of our rivers were perennial earlier but have dried up today. We will work to connect them with each other.
No objection to putting nameplates on Kanwar route
CM Dhami said that we had decided in the meeting itself that people should work by revealing their identity. There is nothing wrong in this. Our state is a state of brotherhood. We live together. Therefore, there is no objection to writing the name along with the identity on the Kanwar route.
Do not do politics on Char Dham
CM Dhami said in the case of 228 kg gold from Kedarnath Dham that I do not want to say anything because our revered saint, temple committee has already said that this is beyond the facts. I request my friends from political parties not to do politics on Chardham.
