Dehradun: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami met Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya M. Scindia in New Delhi on Friday and congratulated him on getting the responsibility of the Ministry of Communications and discussed with him on various topics related to the expansion of communication services in the state. The Chief Minister also requested to cover the areas deprived of communication system in the state by installing towers and to expand communication facilities in the villages of the border area of Pithoragarh and to operate the tower installed by Reliance Jio in Gunji.
The Chief Minister informed the Union Communications Minister that it has become necessary in public interest to shift the post office located at Tallital in Nainital to solve the traffic problem of Nainital. Due to the increasing number of devotees and tourists in Nainital district every day and the increasing popularity of the world famous Baba Neem Karauli Maharaj’s ashram ‘Shri Kainchi Dham’, the number of tourists in Nainital is increasing tremendously along with devotees.
The Chief Minister said that to solve the traffic problem of Nainital, on the basis of detailed study and suggestions done earlier by IIT, Delhi for the traffic system of Nainital, the technical team and the Road Safety Committee have considered the post office located at the main intersection of Nainital as the main reason for the problem of jam.
The Chief Minister expected the Union Communications Minister to shift the post office located at the main intersection of Nainital city to another place to get rid of the jam in Nainital city and strengthen the traffic system. The Chief Minister also informed the Union Communications Minister that under the 4G saturation scheme, 638 towers were to be installed by Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) in Uttarakhand, out of which land acquisition was required for 481 towers. The Uttarakhand government has completed the land acquisition process, but BSNL has installed only 224 towers. In this regard, the Chief Minister requested the Union Communications Minister to direct BSNL to take immediate action.
