Dehradun: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami requested the Central Government’s approval for four major projects worth ₹7,628 crore for the state’s infrastructure, water resources management, energy, and public service delivery systems.
On Thursday, the Chief Minister met with Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and discussed Uttarakhand’s development project proposals. CM Dhami requested approval for the ₹2,000 crore Water and Sanitation Urban Infrastructure Development Project, ₹424 crore DRIP-III Phase, ₹3,638 crore Uttarakhand Climate Resilient Intra-State Power Transmission System Development, and ₹1,566 crore Uttarakhand Power Distribution Reliability Improvement Project. He stated that these projects will strengthen the state’s infrastructure, water resources management, energy, and public service delivery systems.
The Chief Minister stated that population pressure is continuously increasing in the urban areas of Uttarakhand. In this ecologically sensitive and heavily rain-prone state, there is a need to improve and upgrade the urban drainage system. To this end, DPRs have been prepared for stormwater drainage systems in the 10 most rain-affected districts of the state. The total estimated cost is ₹8,589.47 crore. He requested the Union Finance Minister to approve these projects under the Special Assistance to States Scheme for Capital Investment.
The Chief Minister requested the Union Finance Minister for the early approval of externally aided projects in Uttarakhand. Of the three important projects submitted by the state government, the Uttarakhand Climate Resilience Development Project has been approved.
In addition, the state government has also submitted a proposal of ₹850 crore for the Public Financial Management Strengthening Project and ₹800 crore for streamlining the water supply system to the central government. The Chief Minister requested the Union Finance Minister for the early approval of these projects. Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman assured the Chief Minister of all possible support.
