Dehradun: On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the Mussoorie firing incident, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami reached the Shaheed Smarak in Mussoorie and paid homage to the martyred agitators and paid tribute to their statue. On this occasion, the state agitators expressed their gratitude to the Chief Minister for implementing the system of 10 percent horizontal reservation.
The Chief Minister said that our state agitators sacrificed everything without caring for their lives. He said that the state government is working to fulfill the dreams that the martyred agitators had seen for Uttarakhand. He said that the Khatima incident took place on September 1, Mussoorie on September 2 and Rampur Tiraha incident on October 2, these three days are recorded as a black chapter in the history of our state. He said that we can never forget the supreme sacrifice of our immortal martyrs. The Chief Minister said that the then government brutally crushed the peaceful movement.
The Chief Minister said that the dream of the martyred agitators was to create such a Uttarakhand where everyone gets equal rights. The state government is moving forward with this goal. The Chief Minister said that Uttarakhand has secured the number one position in the recently released ranking of Sustainable Development Goals of Niti Aayog. Along with development in the state, special attention is also being paid to environmental balance. GEP has been started in the state.
The Chief Minister said that to make this decade the decade of Uttarakhand, work is being done rapidly in every field. In the coming ten years, Uttarakhand will be at the peak of its development and progress. For this, work is being done with the coordination of ecology and economy. He said that the government has expressed gratitude to the state agitators and has implemented the system of 10 percent horizontal reservation for the state agitators and their dependents and pension is being given.
The Chief Minister said that our Nari Shakti has played a big role in the state movement. In view of this, the state government has decided to give 30 percent reservation to women in the government services of the state. Strict anti-copying law has been implemented in the state. More than 100 copying mafias were sent behind bars. Apart from this, along with bringing a strict law to stop forced conversion in the state, anti-riot law has also been implemented in the state. Strict action has been taken against land jihad so that the demography does not change in the state.
The Chief Minister said that more than 16 thousand appointments have been made in government departments in the state in the last 3 years. He said that just in a single day, the final result of the State PCS Examination 2021 and the pre-result of 2024 were released. Most of the candidates selected in this examination are from Uttarakhand. The Chief Minister said that a museum will be built in the memory of the martyrs in the Shaheed Smarak of Mussoorie. It is important for the future generation to know about our state agitators.
After the program, the Chief Minister also paid tribute to late Indramani Badoni by garlanding his statue in Mussoorie.
Cabinet Minister Ganesh Joshi said that after the Khatima firing incident on September 1, there was a lot of anger among the people in Mussoorie. Due to which, on September 2, the agitators were peacefully observing a relay fast in protest against the Khatima firing incident that took place in Udham Singh Nagar Khatima on September 1. During this, on the instructions of the then government, the PAC and police started firing on the agitators without any reason without any prior warning. In which agitators Balbir Singh Negi, Dhanpat Singh, Rai Singh Bangari, Madan Mohan Mamgain, Belmati Chauhan and Hansa Dhanai were martyred. He said that Atal Bihari Vajpayee has played an important role in making Uttarakhand a separate state.
On this occasion, BJP State President Mahendra Bhatt, former MLA Jot Singh Gunsola, former Mussoorie Municipality President Manmohan Singh Malla, OP Uniyal, Bhagwan Singh Dhanai and state agitators were present.
