Dehradun: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Sunday released the December pension installments for beneficiaries of various pension schemes run by the Social Welfare Department, directly into their bank accounts through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system from the Chief Minister’s Camp Office. On this occasion, the Chief Minister released a total amount of Rs. 140 crore 26 lakh 97 thousand into the accounts of 9 lakh 43 thousand 964 beneficiaries.
The Chief Minister said that the state government is continuously striving for the social and economic empowerment of the weaker sections of society, the elderly, widows, persons with disabilities, and the destitute. He said that to strengthen the transparent governance system in the state, all types of payments are now being made directly to the beneficiaries’ bank accounts through the DBT system, which has ensured timeliness and transparency.
The Chief Minister instructed the officials of the Social Welfare Department to identify those who are eligible for old-age pension as soon as they turn 60 years old, starting from the age of 59, so that they can receive pension payments promptly upon becoming eligible. He said that the state government’s goal is to ensure that every eligible beneficiary in society receives the benefits of the schemes without any difficulty. He instructed that the process of regular verification and monitoring should be further strengthened to ensure that no eligible person is left out of the pension schemes. The Chief Minister said that the government is fully committed to the effective implementation of public welfare schemes.
On this occasion, Director of Social Welfare Dr. Sandeep Tiwari, Additional Secretary Prakash Chandra, and other officials of the Social Welfare Department were present.
