CM Dhami virtually addressed the felicitation ceremony held at Kanhaiya Lal DAV College, Roorkee

Dehradun: The Chief Minister said that a teacher is a guide who guides society’s consciousness. A society where teachers are safe, respected, and satisfied progresses and reaches the pinnacle of development. He said that under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the government is continuously working to improve the level of education in the state, prioritizing the interests of teachers and students. We are also working at various levels to make the education system more modern, practical, and well-organized.

The Chief Minister said that the government does not want to limit the education system to exams and degrees, but rather wants to integrate it with skill development and advance youth in the state’s employment and self-employment sectors. The government has made its priorities clear by implementing the new education policy, the first in the country. Under the new education policy, many new courses such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, and big data are now being introduced in our universities.

The Chief Minister stated that the government is establishing 20 model colleges in the state. For the convenience of students, women’s hostels, modern IT labs, and new examination buildings are being constructed. We have signed an agreement with the UK for the Chevening Uttarakhand Scholarship. Under this agreement, five of our most talented students will be sent to the UK for their Masters. The youth will enroll in the top 100 institutions in the country, and our government is also providing them with an incentive of ₹50,000.

The Chief Minister stated that the state government is working to ensure that Uttarakhand’s youth become not only job seekers but also job creators through startups. Along with strengthening the infrastructure in Uttarakhand’s colleges, work is also underway to establish nine new colleges. The state government is also offering special incentive awards for the publication of outstanding research papers. He added that the state has implemented the country’s strictest anti-cheating law to crack down on the fraud mafia that threatens the future of youth. More than 100 fraud mafias are behind bars. In the past four and a half years, more than 26,000 of our youth have received government jobs in a transparent manner. This number represents more than two-thirds of the total appointments made by any government since the state’s formation.

The Chief Minister stated that a decision has been made to abolish the Madrasa Board in the state. Now, after July 1, 2026, only those Madrasas will operate in Devbhoomi that teach the modern syllabus prescribed by the government; otherwise, they will be closed. Control will also be imposed on religious gurus who, without any educational qualifications, were jeopardizing the future of children solely on religious grounds. Our effort is to provide quality education in accordance with established standards in the state’s educational institutions. The objective of education should be to guide children towards their overall development and a bright future, not to push them towards a 500-year-old tribal mentality. Rajya Sabha MP Dr. Kalpana Saini, MLA Pradeep Batra, college principal Dr. Mahendrapal Singh, and others were present on the occasion.
