Dehradun: Modi government has given a big relief to the common man before Diwali. GST slab has been reduced in the 56th meeting of the GST Council. Due to the reduction in GST slab, the rate of tax on all goods will be reduced. The new GST slab will come into effect from September 22. Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and former Finance Minister Premchand Aggarwal have welcomed this decision of the Modi government.
On the changes made in the GST slab, CM Dhami said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi does what he says. On August 15, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had said from the Red Fort that before Diwali, he will give gifts to make the lives of the people better. Under which schemes will be brought and GST slabs will be changed.
CM Dhami said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has changed the GST slab of more than 175 products for the farmers, middle class families of the country. Many products have also been made GST free, which will provide great relief to farmers, middle class families and students. The countrymen will start getting its benefits before Dussehra i.e. from 22 September. This initiative will not only move the country forward but people of every class will get an opportunity to uplift.
At the same time, former Finance Minister of Uttarakhand Premchand Agarwal said that the GST Council has reduced the GST slab and kept two slabs. Under which now 5% and 18% GST will be levied on the products falling under the purview of GST.
He also said that this decision taken by Prime Minister Narendra Modi is not only a historic decision, but also a decision to provide relief to the public. This decision will benefit MSMEs as well as increase employment opportunities. Earlier 18% GST was levied on personal life insurance, it has been made GST free. Apart from this, earlier 12% GST was levied on all products related to students, which has been made 0%.
The central government has divided the GST slab into two levels, under which 5% and 18% tax will be levied on the products. Along with this, many items have also been made GST free. After this decision of the Government of India, the farmers, poor and middle class families of the country will get a lot of convenience. Because the central government has kept 33 life saving medicines, medicines for rare diseases, cancer medicines, health policy, personal life insurance, maps, charts, globes, pencils, sharpeners, crayons, pastels, exercise books, notebooks, erasers, milk, chenna or paneer, pre-packaged and labeled, pizza bread, khakhra, chapati or roti in the GST free slab.
