Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami met with the public at the helipad, listened to their problems, and directed officials to resolve them. Afterward, the CM proceeded directly from the helipad to his personal residence, Nagara Tarai, where he celebrated Bhaiya Dooj with his family.
The festival was also celebrated with great enthusiasm in Kashipur: On the occasion of Bhaiya Dooj in Kashipur, sisters applied tilak to their brothers’ foreheads, wishing them long life and good health. Brothers also wished their sisters happiness by giving them gifts and money. Sisters from faraway cities applied tilak to their brothers and presented them with sweets. Every year, after Diwali, the festival of Govardhan and Bhaiya Dooj is celebrated. According to mythological beliefs, Yamraj visited his sister Yamuna on the second day of Kartik Shukla Paksha. Yamuna had been waiting for her brother’s arrival for a long time. Seeing him, she was overjoyed and welcomed him respectfully. She bathed him, served him food, and observed a fast for his long life. Yamraj was deeply pleased with his sister’s devotion and affection and granted a boon to Goddess Yamuna that any brother and sister who bathed together in the Yamuna on this day would attain salvation and live a life of happiness and prosperity. Since then, on this day, brothers visit their sisters’ homes to apply tilak (a mark of the Lord’s face) and honor them with gifts.
According to other mythological stories, Lord Krishna returned to Dwarka on Bhai Dooj after killing Narakasura. His sister, Subhadra, welcomed him with fruits, flowers, sweets, and lit lamps. Furthermore, Subhadra applied tilak to Lord Krishna and prayed for his long life.
