Dehradun: The patient load is continuously increasing at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Rishikesh, Doon Medical College, and other hospitals. Due to this, the demand for advanced medical facilities at AIIMS Rishikesh has been rapidly increasing over the past few years. Considering this, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has written a letter to Union Health Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda. Through the letter, the CM has requested the establishment of a ‘Multi-Organ Transplantation Surgery Department’ at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Rishikesh, Uttarakhand.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that in the last few years, the demand for advanced medical services at AIIMS Rishikesh has increased significantly, especially in the field of organ donation and multi-organ transplantation surgery. This has led to a continuous increase in the number of critically ill patients not only from the state but also from neighboring states. Due to increased awareness about organ donation in the state, there has also been a significant increase in potential organ donor cases.
Despite this, patients requiring kidney, liver, pancreas, and heart transplants often have to travel to other states for treatment. This not only delays treatment but also causes patients to face significant financial difficulties. Chief Minister Dhami said that AIIMS Rishikesh has specialist doctors, necessary infrastructure, and technical capabilities. Therefore, the establishment of a Multi-Organ Transplantation Surgery Department will further enhance the capacity of this important institution.
This department will prove to be very beneficial not only for Uttarakhand but also for the entire North India and the Himalayan region. The CM requested the Union Health Minister to provide the necessary approval for the establishment of a Multi-Organ Transplantation Surgery Department at AIIMS Rishikesh in the public interest. He also requested that the concerned officials be directed to take action in this direction as soon as possible.
