Dehradun: In Uttarakhand, the Congress has demanded from the Dhami government to immediately stop giving service extension to the officers retiring from the administration and departments. State Congress President Karan Mahara says that the state is running on the trust of contract officers. Service extension lowers the morale of senior and capable officers. Mahara has opposed the decision of the state government, raising questions on giving service extension to the retiring officers.
Mahara said that, due to service extension, qualified officers are not getting a chance. In such a situation, if the new generation is not allowed to come forward, then how long will the service extension continue. He said that many officers are to be transferred in June and July as well. But I can say with full confidence that new people will not be given priority to come forward. Rather, only old officers will be given service extension.
Karan Mahara claimed that he has concrete information about this. He said that the extension of service of officers being done one after another in the government and various departments seems to indicate that there is a shortage of capable and qualified officers in the state. At the government level, by repeatedly extending service to posts like Chief Secretary, Director General of Police, PWD Chief, Chief Engineer of Irrigation Department, Director General of Uttarakhand Jal Vidyut Nigam, Managing Director of UPCL, Managing Director in charge of Pitkul, the government is working to demoralize other senior officers of these departments.
Along with this, the right to seniority is also being snatched from them, which is not fair. He raised the demand and said that by ending the extension of service of senior officials, capable and qualified officers should be given a chance.
