Congress pressured him to make statements against Dhami: Acharya Pramod Krishnam

Dehradun: Acharya Pramod Krishnam, who was expelled from the Congress party last year, alleged on Thursday that party leaders pressured him to make statements against Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. However, Krishnam said he refused to make unflattering statements against Dhami, which drew displeasure from Delhi leaders.

Krishnam made this statement at the Raj Bhavan here during the release of a book on Dhami, titled “Pushkar Dhami: The Living Warmth of the Himalayas.” He explained that the incident occurred when he was a responsible Congress party official.

Krishnam said, “I cannot be against a Chief Minister just because he belongs to the opposition party. I said I would not make unflattering statements against Pushkar Singh Dhami because I cannot make statements against a saint.” Perhaps Pushkar Singh Dhami and his cabinet had read and seen my statement at the time.

He said that Delhi expressed strong displeasure over this, and he was asked to refute his statement.

He said, “I was asked how I could call Pushkar Singh Dhami a saint. I said that only those who accept the truth with simplicity and willingness are saints.”

Speaking to reporters later, Krishnam claimed that Uttarakhand Chief Minister Dhami has a clean image, but the Congress party wanted to defame him.
