Dehradun: The heat of the Ankita Bhandari murder case in Uttarakhand is showing no signs of subsiding. The demand for a CBI inquiry into the matter and for bringing the VIP culprits to justice is gaining momentum throughout the state. In this regard, Congress workers took to the streets in Gadarpur, Udham Singh Nagar, staging a strong protest demanding that the truth behind the much-discussed Ankita Bhandari murder case be revealed and that the culprits be given strict punishment. Leader of the Opposition Yashpal Arya, Deputy Leader of the Opposition Bhuvan Kapri, MLA Gopal Singh Rana, MLA Adesh Chauhan, and several other prominent Congress leaders were present during the protest. The leaders accused the government of being lax in the matter and demanded that the culprits be given harsh punishment.
Leader of the Opposition Yashpal Arya said that the Ankita Bhandari murder case is not just a private tragedy for one family, but a profound question mark on the soul of Uttarakhand, the safety of its daughters, and our justice system. When, even after months, the victim’s family is still waiting for justice and the path to the truth is repeatedly being obstructed, the state government’s silence and evasive attitude become unbearable. Justice will only be meaningful when there is an independent and impartial CBI inquiry into this heinous crime, and the culprits, no matter how influential they may be, receive the harshest punishment according to the law.
Arya said that with this resolve and to protect the honor of the daughters of Uttarakhand, a procession and sit-in protest were held outside the Gadarpur Tehsil to send a clear message to the government to fix accountability. This struggle is not of any political party, but a struggle for truth, justice, and the safety of future generations, and this voice will continue to be raised until Ankita receives complete justice.
