Dehradun: Former Chief Minister Harish Rawat accused the BJP and staged a protest over a viral AI-generated reel featuring him. He also went to the Nehru Colony police station to file an FIR. There, he accused the BJP of Muslim appeasement.
Rawat said that the BJP had spread lies in 2017 as well, claiming that he had promised a holiday for Friday prayers. He said they lied again in 2022, claiming that the Congress had promised to open a Muslim university if they came to power. Now, he said, they are using AI to level false accusations against him. He said he had undertaken two “Proof” yatras (journeys), but they had not provided any answers.
He said he is being called a traitor and accused of giving information to Pakistan. He alleged that the BJP is once again resorting to lies by creating this AI-generated propaganda. This time, he said, he has decided that he will expose the BJP’s lies, even if it costs him his life. He vowed that they would not allow the BJP’s pot of lies to boil over this time.
It is worth noting that at the beginning of the AI-generated reel, Rawat is seen saying, “Muslim Sharanam Gacchami, Mazar Sharanam Gacchami, Love Jihad Sharanam Gacchami” (I take refuge in Muslims, I take refuge in shrines, I take refuge in ‘Love Jihad’). The subsequent images show the construction of a shrine and some people smiling and talking about transforming Uttarakhand’s ‘Devbhoomi’ (Land of Gods) into a ‘land of shrines’.
At the end of the reel, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami is seen walking with the police and a bulldozer. The 29-second reel states, “The Congress, blinded by its lust for power, has always cared only about the chair, even if it means compromising the sanctity of Devbhoomi. In its greed for vote bank politics, the Congress had completely changed the demography of the hills, but not anymore.”
