Dehradun/Kashipur: A tense situation prevails in Kashipur, Uttarakhand. A large police force is deployed in Kashipur to maintain law and order. An “I Love Mohammad” procession was taken out without permission in the Alli Khan Mohalla of Kashipur last Sunday night. When the procession was stopped, a riot broke out in the Alli Khan Mohalla that night.

The rioters in Kashipur will be made to pay for the damage: Protesters pelted stones at the police and their vehicle while trying to stop the procession. Police personnel were also attacked during the protest. Tensions remain high in the area. Regarding the entire incident, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami stated that inciting people and causing riots is very unfortunate. Therefore, the damage to government and private property will be recovered from the rioters.

Actions taken so far: Following the controversy surrounding an unauthorized procession in Kashipur’s Ali Khan neighborhood on Sunday night, the government swung into action the following day, Monday. The administration also demolished over 70 illegal shops in the neighborhood. A series of arrests also began. Seven people, including Nadeem Akhtar, the main conspirator in the incident, were arrested, and 10 others were detained. Furthermore, a case was filed against approximately 500 unidentified individuals under various sections.

CM Dhami stated that strict action will be taken against anyone who takes law and order into their own hands. Similar to Kashipur, some individuals attempted to incite a similar riot in Banbhulpura. In light of this, the anti-riot law has been implemented in the state. Therefore, anyone who damages government and private property will be held accountable for the full damage.

Similarly, in Kashipur, the law will take its course against those who have broken the law, disrupted law and order, and attempted to incite riots. This incitement, provocation, and incitement of riots is very unfortunate and will not be tolerated in Devbhoomi Uttarakhand.

District Magistrate reviews action: Following the “I Love Mohammad” procession in Kashipur three days ago, the administration’s bulldozer action and the electricity department’s action continued for the second day. On the third day since the incident, Udham Singh Nagar District Magistrate Nitin Singh Bhadauria arrived in Kashipur and reviewed the ongoing administrative action on the spot.

Unauthorized procession held, police attacked: It should be noted that two days ago, after a young man named Nadeem Akhtar organized a meeting with approximately 400-500 of his companions at Alli Khan Chowk in the Bansfodan area of ​​Mohalla Alli Khan in Udham Singh Nagar, Kashipur, the crowd suddenly took out an unauthorized procession with banners and posters, shouting “I LOVE MOHAMMAD.” Despite police arriving at the scene and instructing them not to hold the procession without permission and to disperse, the crowd disobeyed police orders. According to police, they directly attacked the police team.

7 rioters, including mastermind Nadeem Akhtar, arrested: According to police, the rioters attacked with sticks and stones, damaged government vehicles, and assaulted police personnel. Following the incident, the police took action yesterday, examining CCTV footage and mobile videos, identifying the miscreants, and arresting seven of them, including the mastermind, Nadeem Akhtar.

DM said strict action is being taken: The DM, who arrived in Kashipur on Tuesday, stated that his priority is to resolve all complaints received promptly and transparently. Joint teams from the Municipal Corporation and UPCL are present on the spot and taking action. The investigation also revealed that meters were not present in many locations and commercial activities were being carried out on residential connections through illegal connections. Strict action is being taken in all these cases to improve the system.

Emphasis on encroachment removal: He further stated that large-scale encroachments had been made on drains, which was obstructing water drainage and making the entire area uninhabitable. Action is now being taken to remove these encroachments expeditiously to alleviate the waterlogging problem and provide relief to the residents. The District Magistrate also clarified that the inspection revealed that the streets had become very narrow, even though the approved plans should have allowed for adequate space. Work is underway to remove encroachments and streamline the streets to facilitate movement for citizens and create a permanently orderly environment in the area.
