Deadline for land use change in Uttarakhand set, process now online

Dehradun: Change of Land Use (CLU) in Uttarakhand will now be easy, transparent, and timely. The government has made this process available on an online portal. The process will be completed in 18 steps. The years-long wait for land use changes will end.

The Housing Department has issued the latest guidelines for land use changes, dividing land into three categories. While the rules for these three categories vary slightly, all require an 18-20-step process within the stipulated timeframe. Land use changes for 4,000-10,000 square meters will involve the authority level, for 10,000-50,000 square meters will involve the Uttarakhand Housing and Urban Development Authority, and for those above 50,000 square meters, the authority and governance committee will also be involved.

This process, combined with all steps, can be completed in approximately six to 12 months. According to Housing Department officials, the online portal will increase transparency, reduce pending files, and ordinary citizens will no longer have to run around offices for land use changes.
