Dehradun Green Building in the news again; DM inspects, reprimands officials

Dehradun: The District Magistrate today inspected the Green Building under construction in the capital Dehradun. The District Magistrate reprimanded the officials of the executing agency for the slow pace of work. He issued instructions to deploy workers according to the labor chart and complete the construction by the stipulated deadline of June 2026. He also directed the preparation of a weekly report on manpower, material, and third-party quality.

Today, the District Magistrate inspected the Green Building under construction under the Smart City Limited project on Haridwar Road. Expressing displeasure over the slow progress of the Green Building, the District Magistrate directed that the work be completed by the stipulated deadline of June 2026. During the inspection, the District Magistrate warned that any negligence in the Green Building, an ambitious project of the Chief Minister and the State Government, would not be tolerated. All available facilities, materials, number of workers, and work speed were checked at the construction site. On the spot, the District Magistrate found unnecessary delays. He directed the concerned officials to complete the entire project within the next six months. He also warned that departmental action would be taken if the work is not completed within the stipulated time.

The District Magistrate instructed to strictly adhere to high quality, environmentally friendly technology, and safety standards in construction work. He also directed the concerned officials to provide weekly reports on work progress. When asked about the number of workers currently employed by the CPWD, the District Magistrate stated that 140 workers are currently working. When asked about the labor chart, the officials stated that there should be 300 workers. Expressing displeasure, the District Magistrate directed that the labor force be increased and work be done in three shifts.

District Magistrate Savin Bansal stated that the officials of the executing agency have been instructed to submit a labor plan, material plan, and project report. Upon inquiring about the material testing lab, the Chief Engineer, CPWD, stated that 90 percent of testing is done at the on-site testing lab, while 10 percent is done externally.
