Dehradun: During the Kanwar Yatra and fair starting from July 11 in the state, the government will deal strictly with the miscreants and hooligans. During this time, there will be a complete ban on the use of big DJs. On Monday, Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan directed the officials to complete the necessary work on time at all levels for the safe, systematic and smooth conduct of the Yatra and the fair.
During the review meeting, the Chief Secretary instructed that strict action will be taken against the responsible officers and the implementing agency in case of any negligence in providing basic facilities related to drinking water, toilets, cleanliness and parking for organizing the fair. The Chief Secretary also instructed to take strict action against those involved in intoxication, creating disturbance and promoting violent tendencies during the Kanwar Yatra.
He instructed the municipal bodies to ensure regular cleanliness, toilets and parking, uninterrupted supply of drinking water to the Jal Sansthan, regular supervision of food items to the Food Safety Department and the Food Supply Department to curb the sale of food items above the prescribed rates. Additional Director General of Police V Murugeshan, Garhwal Divisional Commissioner Vinay Shankar Pandey, Inspector General K S Nagnyal and many other officials were present in the meeting.
Guidelines will be issued to the working agencies
The Chief Secretary asked to issue necessary guidelines while holding a meeting of the concerned working agencies in time. He directed the Irrigation Department to ensure better cleanliness and necessary security arrangements at various bathing ghats and bridges.
Kanwar Mela will run from 11 to 23 July
The period of Kanwar Mela will be from 11 July to 23 July. Panchak period from 13 to 17 July. Dak Kanwar will be from 20 to 23 July and Jalabhishek (Shravan Shivratri) will be on 23 July.
DM and SSP gave presentation
In the meeting, the DM and SSP of Haridwar gave a presentation regarding the preparations for the successful conduct of Kanwar Yatra and fair, traffic system, parking, crowd management, security arrangements. Various routes for traffic management, permanent-temporary parking, route diversion plan according to the vehicles coming to the district and going to other places were told. Said that the Kanwad Mela area has been divided into 16 super zones, 37 zones and 134 sectors.
