Haridwar: Uttarakhand Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan visited Haridwar to take stock of the preparations for the Kumbh Mela to be held in 2027. His aim is to provide better facilities to the visiting devotees and make Kumbh a grand and divine event.

During this visit, Bardhan did a field inspection of the fair area. He was accompanied by many other officials including Mela Officer Mrs. Sonika, District Magistrate Mayur Dixit, Senior Superintendent of Police Pramod Singh Dobal and HRDA Vice President Anshul Singh.
Key inspections and instructions
Bardhan closely inspected various construction schemes, including:
- Multi-model hub: Inspection of the multi-model hub to be built at Gauri parking lot on Najibabad Highway.
- Ropeway: Inspection of the construction site of the proposed ropeway to Chandi Devi temple.
- Cultural Hub: Inspection of the plan of the cultural hub to be built in Neeldhara near Divya Prem Mission Ashram.
- Laser Show: Inspection of the proposed site for laser show at Namami Gange Ghat in Neeldhara.
The Chief Secretary gave clear instructions to the officials that all permanent and temporary construction works, as well as the expansion of the ghats, should be completed by December 2026. Describing the safety of the devotees as paramount, he asked to install railings on priority on those ghats where it is needed.
Emphasis on safety and punctuality
Anand Bardhan directed all the concerned departments and implementing agencies to complete all the works with promptness and punctuality.
On this visit, District Magistrate Mayur Dixit and Mela Adhikari Mrs. Sonika welcomed the Chief Secretary and assured him that all his instructions would be followed.
Chief Engineer Irrigation Subhash Chand Pandey, Chief Engineer Irrigation Chandra Shekhar Singh, DFO Swapnil Anirudh and many other officers were also present during the inspection.
