Kashipur: Following the riot that broke out during a procession in Mohalla Ali Khan in Kashipur, Udham Singh Nagar, the administration has intensified its action. The administration has taken action against several homes in the area for illegal encroachment and electricity theft, and has also imposed hefty fines. Following the riot, Section 163 has been imposed in the area.
On Monday, a joint team of the Revenue Department, Municipal Corporation Kashipur, Electricity Department Kashipur, Pollution Control Board, and police conducted a major operation in Mohalla Ali Khan in Kashipur. The team disconnected 17 homes for illegally operating electricity connections. An FIR was filed against 11 people. In one case, a recommendation has been made to cancel the Janadhaar Kendra’s ID for not operating as per the rules.
Bulldozers in action: The Municipal Corporation bulldozed 35 to 40 houses that had illegally encroached on municipal drains. Fines totaling 16,000 rupees were issued for not having a trade license. The Pollution Department took action against a bakery for failing to meet pollution standards. The District Development Authority issued challans for 12 illegally constructed structures.
Section 163 implemented: Meanwhile, in Kashipur, following the indecency and violence against police during a procession late last night, the administration has implemented Section 163 (formerly Section 144) of the BNS with immediate effect from 7 pm to 7 am in the area between Chungi Tiraha Bansfodan to Kila Tiraha, Ali Khan, and Karbala Vijaynagar.
Restrictions imposed: Under Section 163, no one will be allowed to leave their homes unnecessarily, and no more than four people will gather in a public place. Additionally, any procession without permission will be strictly prohibited. No one will be allowed to carry any explosives or weapons.
Here’s the story: On Sunday night, hundreds of youth were marching with placards in Mohalla Ali Khan, Kashipur. Chaos erupted during the procession. Upon receiving the information, a Dial 112 police vehicle arrived at the scene. However, the rioters also pelted the police with stones, damaging the vehicle. When the police attempted to pacify them, the rioters assaulted the Sub-Inspector General of Police (SSI) of the Kashipur police station. Police have arrested seven people, including the mastermind of the riot. A case has been filed against more than 400 people in connection with the incident.
