Dehradun: To celebrate the 38th National Games as a public festival and to connect the people of the state with the enthusiasm of sports, the torch procession will be started from Haldwani on 26th December. This journey will pass through all 13 districts. During this, various programs will also be organized in every district for two to three days.
This information was shared by Sports Minister Rekha Arya on Friday after a meeting with senior officials at the National Sports Secretariat located at Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium. He informed that Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami will flag off the torch procession. If the journey passes through Kumaon and Garhwal divisions, then efforts will be made to reach as many blocks as possible and the general public should join in maximum numbers.
Instructions also issued to promote National Games
In the meeting, the Sports Minister asked the Secretary and Director General of the Information Department to spread as much publicity about the games as possible. The publicity campaign will run through TV, newspapers, news portals, radio and social media. He also issued instructions to promote the National Games through hoardings, banners, posters and displays in all municipal corporations and municipal areas. Special Principal Secretary Sports Amit Sinha, Director General of Information Banshidhar Tiwari and other senior officials were present in the meeting.
The government wants to celebrate the National Games as a public festival, so a torch procession will be organised. Preparations are being made to connect as many people as possible with this.
