Dhami government will open 23 sports academies in many cities of the state, Sports Legacy Policy will be implemented, Sports Minister held a meeting with the concerned officials

Dehradun: Soon 23 sports academies are going to come into existence in Uttarakhand. These sports academies will prepare 920 elite athletes every year. 1000 walk-in athletes will also be prepared in each academy. The outline of the legacy plan announced by the government during the National Games has been prepared.

This was discussed in a meeting held with the officials of the Sports Department at the camp office of Sports Minister Rekha Arya on Wednesday. Sports Minister Rekha Arya said that during the preparation of the National Games, various stadiums were prepared in the state at a total cost of Rs 517 crore in the sports infrastructure. Apart from this, international level sports equipment was also purchased in a total of 31 sports disciplines at a cost of about Rs 94 crore to conduct the National Games. Including all this, at present the Sports Department of the state has accumulated assets worth about Rs 1300 crore. This legacy plan has been prepared for the care and operation of all these assets.

Under this, a total of 23 sports academies will be built in various cities of the state. Sports Minister Rekha Arya said that national and international level head coaches and junior coaches will be posted in these academies. Along with this, sports science experts, physiotherapists, conditioning coaches, diet specialists and psychiatrists will also be posted. All these will help the young players of the state to prepare for international level competitions. Sports Minister Rekha Arya said that efforts are being made to implement the legacy plan as soon as possible.

Fit Uttarakhand Movement will start: Taking inspiration from Prime Minister Modi’s Fit India campaign, preparations are on to start a similar Fit Uttarakhand Movement in Uttarakhand. This has also been made a part of the legacy plan of the Sports Department. In this, people of far-flung villages and towns will be made aware of sports. They will be encouraged to participate in sports regularly. For this, there is a plan to use the playgrounds of 18000 schools and colleges across the state. Sports activities will be regularly organized for the general public here after school timings.
