Dhami government’s big decision, all the hospitals of the state will be removed from PPP mode, know why?

Dehradun: Many government hospitals in Uttarakhand are being operated on PPP (Public Private Partnership) mode. Questions have always been raised about their health system. The government was also receiving continuous complaints about the government hospitals operating on PPP mode. In such a situation, the government has withdrawn the decision to operate government hospitals on PPP mode. According to the Health Department, all the hospitals operating on PPP mode will be withdrawn by December 30.

In the year 2017, the government had decided to operate hospitals on PPP mode to improve the health system of the state and to provide better health facilities to the patients. During that time, under the Uttarakhand Health System Development Project funded by the World Bank, 9 government hospitals of the state were started operating on PPP mode. In which three hospitals each in Tehri, Pauri and Nainital districts were given on PPP mode.

Recently, the state government had withdrawn District Hospital Bouradi in Tehri Garhwal and two other hospitals Bilkeshwar and Devprayag from PPP mode. At present, 6 hospitals in Pauri and Nainital districts are still being operated on PPP mode.

Under this, District Hospital Pauri, Joint Hospital Pabau and Joint Hospital Ghindiyal in Pauri district as well as Ramdatt Joshi Joint Hospital Ramnagar, Community Health Center Bhikiyasain and Community Health Center Bironkhal in Nainital district are included.

In such a situation, now the Uttarakhand government is going to take all these hospitals under its control by removing them from PPP mode. Because the tenure of Uttarakhand Health System Development Project funded by the World Bank is ending on 31 December. While talking to ETV Bharat, Health Minister Dhan Singh Rawat said that many hospitals are being operated in the state of Uttarakhand through the World Bank.

He told that in the year 2017, the government had decided to operate many hospitals on PPP mode. Because, at that time there was a huge shortage of doctors in the state, but now the number of doctors in the state is also sufficient. Also, the number of medical colleges has also increased. Apart from this, 200 students are also doing PG in the state. Therefore, all the hospitals running on PPP mode will be closed by December 30 and the state government will operate those hospitals.
