Dehradun: Under the clear instructions of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and the policy of zero tolerance on corruption, continuous strict and decisive action is being taken against corruption in the state. In this sequence, a team of the Vigilance Department, in a major operation in Haridwar district, arrested District Supply Officer Shyam Arya and his assistant red-handed while accepting a bribe of ₹50,000. According to the information received, the vigilance team from Dehradun had been receiving continuous reports of bribery involving these officials associated with the Haridwar District Supply Office for quite some time. After verifying the information and formulating a precise plan, the vigilance team laid a trap and carried out this operation. Following the arrests, the vigilance team is conducting intensive questioning of both the accused at the Haridwar District Supply Office. They are also meticulously examining the records and other documents of the concerned office to uncover other aspects related to corruption.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has clearly stated that the state government will not compromise on corruption at any level. He reiterated that if any officer or employee misuses their position, considering government service as public service, the strictest action will be taken against them. On the Chief Minister’s instructions, the Vigilance Department, STF, and other investigating agencies have been given complete freedom to take action.
Under Chief Minister Dhami’s leadership, a continuous and aggressive campaign against corruption has been waged in the state in recent years. Whether it is the arrest of officials accepting bribes, action against illegal assets, or departmental penalties against employees involved in corruption, the state government has sent a strong message at every level that there is no place for corruption in Uttarakhand.
