Dehradun: The state government has fixed sugarcane prices for the 2025–26 crushing season. CM Dhami has approved the increase in the state-advised price for sugarcane purchased by sugar mills in Uttarakhand. For the new 2025–26 crushing season, the price of early variety has been set at Rs. 405 per quintal and the price of normal variety at Rs. 395 per quintal.
This year, sugarcane prices have been increased by Rs. 30 per quintal. Last year, in the 2024–25 crushing season, the state-advised price for early variety was Rs. 375 per quintal and for normal variety was Rs. 365 per quintal. CM Dhami stated that the Uttarakhand government’s goal is to accelerate the economic empowerment of farmers and ensure that sugarcane farmers receive a full and fair price for their produce in a timely manner. To this end, sugarcane prices have been significantly increased this year compared to the year 2024–25.
CM Dhami stated that the entire pricing process involved discussions with cooperative, public, and private sector sugar mills, the Sugarcane Development and Sugar Industry Department, farmer organizations, and relevant stakeholders. A balanced decision was made after a proper analysis of the FRP set by the central government, the prevailing sugarcane price in Uttar Pradesh, and the state’s geographical and agricultural conditions.
Chief Minister Dhami stated that the state government prioritizes farmers’ interests in every decision. It is the state government’s responsibility to increase sugarcane farmers’ income, ensure fair treatment of their produce, and provide them with convenient, transparent, and timely payments. He directed the concerned departments to ensure that there is no inconvenience at procurement centers and payments are made without delay. He added that this increased price announced for the 2025–26 crushing season will not only provide relief to sugarcane farmers but also strengthen the state’s agricultural economy and help encourage sugarcane production.
