Dhami met Union Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya in Delhi, discussed important proposals

Dehradun: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami met Union Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya in New Delhi today and discussed several important proposals for the comprehensive development of sports in the state, construction of high-level sports infrastructure and providing world-class training and facilities to the players and requested cooperation from the central government.

The Chief Minister expressed heartfelt gratitude on behalf of the people of the state for the cooperation received from the Central Government in the successful organization of the 38th National Games. He said that this Khel Mahakumbh has given a new identity to Uttarakhand. Through this event, Uttarakhand has taken important steps towards presenting itself as a ‘Khelbhoomi’. The Chief Minister requested the Union Minister to approve the proposals for establishment of high level sports facility at Dinapani in Almora district, operation of ice skating ring at Maharana Pratap Sports College campus in Dehradun, upgradation of Adventure Training Centre in New Tehri district, indoor artificial rock climbing facility at Women’s Sports College in Champawat and construction of multipurpose sports halls in 95 development blocks of the state. The Chief Minister also informed that the first sports university of the state has been established in Uttarakhand, which will provide training as well as facilities for sports related educational courses to the players of the state and the country. He urged the Central Government to provide necessary support and financial assistance/grants as possible to develop this university as a leading sports institute. Union Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya assured Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami of all possible cooperation.
