Dehradun: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami participated in the Girls’ Education Promotion Program organized on the occasion of International Girl Child Day at the Chief Servant Sadan in the Chief Minister’s Camp Office on Saturday. Organized by the Women’s Empowerment and Child Development Department, smartphones were distributed to 326 meritorious girls at this program. The Chief Minister awarded the top three girls in the high school and intermediate examinations at the district level and the top girls at the block level.
Wishing everyone a Happy International Girl Child Day, the Chief Minister said that this year, girls have performed exceptionally well in the board examinations, thanks to their hard work, talent, and determination. He said that this year, 90 percent of students passed the high school examination, with a success rate of over 93 percent for girls, and 83 percent of students passed the intermediate examination, with a success rate of over 86 percent for girls.
The Chief Minister said that society progresses through women’s empowerment. If the women power of a state is progressing, no force can stop that state’s development. He said that educating daughters also improves the future of future generations. He said that inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the state government has provided 30 percent reservation for women in government jobs in the state and has also launched schemes like the Chief Minister’s Women Empowerment Scheme, Chief Minister’s Mahalaxmi Scheme, Chief Minister’s Vatsalya Scheme, and Nanda Gaura Scheme. Through these schemes, the state’s daughters are being selected for government services and are also becoming self-reliant through self-help groups, startups, and small industries.
The Chief Minister said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, many historic steps are being taken towards women’s empowerment. Schemes like Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao, Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana, and Balika Samriddhi Yojana are ensuring the education, safety, and prosperity of girls. Initiatives like the Nari Shakti Vandan Act, Ujjwala Yojana, and Lakhpati Didi Yojana have honored the women’s power.
The Chief Minister stated that girls in the state are being encouraged to pursue education through schemes such as the construction of women’s hostels, the free bicycle scheme, and the “Girl Child Education Promotion Program.” He added that many girls in the state dream of pursuing government jobs. To fulfill their dreams, the state has implemented the country’s most stringent anti-cheating law, resulting in over 25,000 youth securing government jobs in the last four years.
Women Empowerment and Child Development Minister Mrs. Rekha Arya stated that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the efforts of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, numerous strides have been made towards women’s empowerment. The Prime Minister launched the “Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao” campaign. Its main objectives are to encourage girl child births, promote girl child education, and promote women’s empowerment, and rapid progress has been made in these areas. Following this campaign, the sex ratio of girls has improved in the state. MLA Mrs. Savita Kapoor, Vice President of State Medicinal Plant Board Pratap Singh Panwar, Secretary Chandresh Kumar and other officers of Women Empowerment and Child Development Department were present on the occasion.
