Dehradun: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, while chairing the review meeting of the Migration Prevention Commission at the Secretariat on Friday, said that a suitable platform would be provided to share the experiences of people who have done reverse migration in the state. Its objective is that other people should also be inspired by these successes and take steps towards self-employment. The Chief Minister also said that the suggestions of such people would be incorporated in various schemes, so that the schemes can become more effective. The Chief Minister said that the active participation of women in the state will give Uttarakhand a place among the best states of the country in the coming times. This participation will be a tribute to the passion, courage and skill of Nari Shakti.
Chief Minister Dhami directed Secretary Rural Development Mrs. Radhika Jha to work towards developing a platform to share the success stories of people who have done reverse migration and include them in plan formulation. Emphasizing on skill development for permanent livelihood of villagers, he told the need to motivate local people towards self-employment by identifying employment opportunities in their area. The Chief Minister also said that women of self-help groups should be provided professional skills, so that branding and marketing of their products can be improved and they get fair price.
Giving detailed information about the work done by the Commission in the meeting, Vice Chairman of Migration Prevention Commission Dr. S.S. Negi said that till now about 2,000 people have done reverse migration in the state and have adopted self-employment by joining agriculture, animal husbandry, tourism, home stay, horticulture and other sectors and are earning good profits. Important suggestions were also presented by other members in the meeting. The Chief Minister also gave instructions for simplification of schemes and said that to make the Commission effective, active participation of departments like planning, education, tourism, skill development should be ensured.
On this occasion, Vice Chairman of Infrastructure Monitoring Council Vishwas Dabar, Vice Chairman of Migration Prevention Commission Dr. S.S. Negi, member Ramprakash Panyuli, Suresh Suyal, Dinesh Rawat, Additional Commissioner Rural Development Rajendra Singh Rawat and other officers were present.
