Dehradun: A contract lineman died due to electric shock while working on the power line in Vaddakhal area of Rikhnikhal block. Now CM Dhami has taken action in this matter. Taking the matter seriously, CM Dhami has suspended Sub-Divisional Officer Chandramohan, Junior Engineer Shubham Kumar and Executive Engineer Vineet Kumar Saxena with immediate effect.
CM Dhami has taken this decision with a view to ensure compliance of safety standards at workplaces and prevent recurrence of such unfortunate incidents in future. CM Dhami has clearly said that this type of negligence will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
CM Dhami directed the officials to give top priority to safety during electrical works. It should be ensured that all necessary safety equipment is available at the workplace. Especially at the time of using risky equipment like fire or sharp objects, the concerned personnel should have all the protective resources like helmets, gloves, safety belts, insulated tools. He has directed to take strict action against all the personnel who are negligent in the matter.
The Chief Minister has also directed the senior officials of Uttarakhand Power Corporation Limited (UPCL) to submit clarification in this regard. He said that it should be made clear how many safety equipment are currently available with the department and whether these equipment are reaching the employees working in the field effectively or not? The Chief Minister reiterated that the state government considers the life and safety of every employee paramount. Any kind of negligence in this direction will not be considered excusable.
