Dehradun: On the occasion of World Disabled Day 2024, a state-level efficiency award distribution program was organized by the Social Welfare Department in Dehradun. In which skilled disabled people and excellent sportsmen of the state as well as people providing employment to self-employed and disabled people through self-help groups were honored. At the same time, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami announced that free IAS online coaching will be arranged for all disabled students in all the districts.
2,700 people of Uttarakhand will be honored
On the occasion of World Disabled Day, 2,700 people from across the state have been selected to be honored. Out of which 65 people were honored. Actually, every year on the occasion of World Disabled Day, a program is organized by the Social Welfare Department. In this episode, in a program organized in Dehradun, CM Pushkar Dhami honored 65 people from all 13 districts of the state by giving them a check of 8 thousand rupees and a citation.
At the same time, all the other people selected for the honor will be honored at the district level itself. CM Dhami said that the disabled people have not only made their dreams come true by taking the physical condition as a challenge. But, they have also worked to inspire the society. Along with this, it has proved that there is no such work that the disabled brothers and sisters cannot do.
Today, whatever be the field, in every field, the disabled have worked to make their mark on the strength of their strong willpower. Along with this, they have also worked to inspire other people. He said that under the leadership of PM Narendra Modi, the Disability Rights Act 2016 has been implemented in the country. In which the types of disabilities have been increased from 7 to 21. Due to which many positive results are being seen in the daily life of the disabled. In Uttarakhand, the state government is also working to increase all the facilities for the disabled at every level. Today, if any construction work is being done, then the construction work is done keeping in mind the disabled. So that the disabled do not have any problem in commuting.
CM Dhami made two announcements on World Disability Day-
- Necessary equipment will be made available to the disabled brothers and sisters as per their need by next year’s Disabled Day. For this, special camps will be organized district-wise.
- Free IAS online coaching will also be arranged for disabled students in all the districts.
Pension being given to the disabled people of Uttarakhand in 5 categories: 5 types of pension are being given to the disabled people of Uttarakhand under different categories. Through which about 1 lakh disabled people of the state are getting benefited. Divyangjans are being given a pension of Rs 1500, Rs 700 maintenance grant is being given to the parents of children with disabilities from birth. In rural areas, a pension of Rs. 1200 per month is being given to a person who gets disabled due to an accident while doing agricultural work.
There is a provision to give a pension of Rs. 1200 per month to those whose height is less than 4 feet even after 21 years of age. Apart from this, a unique identity card has been issued to the disabled. Rs. 25,000 is being given as incentive to the disabled couple for marrying a disabled person. Also, scholarships are being given to disabled children from class one to class 8 and their children are being given to disabled parents.
Apart from this, there is a provision of a free amount of Rs. 7000 for purchasing artificial limbs or equipment for disabled people with more than 40 percent disability. In such a situation, the Uttarakhand government is working towards empowering the disabled along with giving them economic benefits.
Training centers are also being run in Tehri, Nainital, Pithoragarh for self-employment of the disabled. In which disabled brothers and sisters are being given free training in printing press, sewing and cutting. District Disabled Rehabilitation Centers have been established in all districts to provide multi-dimensional services to the disabled.
